Our History
Gino Marsili, Chef and Owner
After attending Johnson & Wales Culinary School in Providence, Rhode Island, Gino moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia to open a fine dining Italian restaurant, where he met his Georgia Peach, Robin.
Born and raised in Georgia, a lot of the recipes come from friends and family of Robin’s in the south. Gino, however, has perfected the art of smoking meat out of his passion for food.
Name and Logo
The Wire Mill BBQ logo was designed by Vincent Marsili, son of Gino and Robin. He likes to draw and when he was in 8th grade he decided to draw a sign for the new BBQ restaurant.
The name is part of Georgetown’s history. The Gilbert & Bennett Manufacturing Company was a staple of Georgetown’s history. Many of Georgetown’s citizens worked at the old mill that produced wire fencing amongst other industrial items. Gino’s father, Vinny Marsili, worked at the old wire mill for 34 years, and there is a photo of him working the wire at the mill on the wall in the restaurant, as well as numerous old wire mill signs, photos, etc.
